About Lori McDonald Lori relocated to San Diego from Southeast Iowa in early May 2006. She was extremely excited about joining the team here at the Academy. As the Accounting Manager, Lori works closely with most departments at the Academy. She is also in frequent contact with the members to coordinate monthly payments and to accommodate them with anything else they may need concerning their account with the Academy. Lori and Traci Paul (Operations Manager) work especially close together to assure that members have whatever they need to manage their businesses. Since joining the Academy in May 2006, Lori has streamlined many of the accounting processes. She has worked hard to improve communication between her department and members, as well as other Academy departments. Anything she can do to improve or make simpler her co-workers’ or Academy members’ day is of the utmost importance to her. Professional Experience Prior to joining the Academy Lori worked in public accounting for 10 years. This position exposed Lori to many situations in the financial realm. She handled the entire spectrum of accounting and payroll functions for her clients as well as income tax preparation for all entity types. She also participated in VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) for her local community in Iowa. Her earliest experience in accounting started with an internship with McGladrey & Pullen, LLC and a stint at the local Iowa Department of Revenue & Finance office. Education Lori began college in her early thirties and acquired her Associates Degree from Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, IA in 1993. She graduated with honors and went on to earn her Bachelors Degree in Accountancy. Lori graduated magna cum laude from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL in 1996. Personal Lori has a grown son and daughter and one granddaughter. Her most treasured pastime is shooting pool with her boyfriend. Lori has participated in league play since shortly after she arrived here in San Diego. She also enjoys fishing, camping, and baseball (she is an avid Cubs fan).
